“The White Diamond” (2004) – Review #21
“The White Diamond” depicts the trials of airship builder Graham Dorrington. While learning about airships, the jungle and Dorrington’s dark past, we get to see some gorgeous images. It’s so hard not to fall in love with Werner Herzog’s voice. German is strong language, full of precision and authenticity and Herzog’s accent carries those qualities. His films would be poorer with any other narrator. “The White Diamond” is no exception, but unfortunately it’s not enough. I admire Herzog very much, but this doc is, in my humble opinion, not one of his strongest.
